Buy from Galaxus
anywhere in the world.

Switzerland's largest online retailer. A department store in the literal sense — electronics, furniture, groceries, garden tools, cosmetics, bedsheets.

Operator Digitec Galaxus AG · majority owned by MigrosBased in Technopark Zürich
The short version

Galaxus is the single best starting point for buying from Switzerland: the range is enormous, prices are transparent, and stock data is accurate. It delivers only to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. We hold a Swiss business account, so the address wall is the only real obstacle and it is the one we exist to remove.

The checkout wall

Where Galaxus stops you,
and how we get through.

These are the gates a foreign buyer hits at this checkout, in the order they hit them. Left is the wall as the retailer states it. Right is what we actually do about it.

01Delivery addressblocked

Delivery is only possible to addresses in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

How we get through

We check out to our Crissier warehouse. Above CHF 50 the domestic leg is free, so nothing is added to your total for getting the goods to us.

02Payment methodblocked

Foreign-issued cards are frequently declined at authorisation, and TWINT requires a Swiss mobile number and bank account.

How we get through

We pay with a Swiss corporate card in CHF. You pay us once, in your own currency, by card, SEPA or wire.

03Languagepartial

The interface offers English, but a large share of product descriptions, manuals and specification sheets remain in German only.

How we get through

Our buyers read all four national languages. We translate the specification before purchase, and the manual after, if you want it.

04Export documentsblocked

A Swiss retail receipt is issued. No commercial invoice, no packing list, no origin declaration, no HS classification.

How we get through

We produce the full export file and reclaim the 8.1% Swiss VAT on your behalf, which is credited back to you as a visible line in the quote.

05Returns and warrantypartial

Returns require a Swiss return address, and warranty service is handled through the Swiss entity.

How we get through

We inspect before shipping, which catches most problems while return is still trivial. After delivery we act as your Swiss return address and handle the RMA.

Result3 of 5 gates stop a foreign buyer outright. None of them stop a Swiss one. That is the entire service — we are the domestic customer Galaxus is willing to sell to, and you are the one who ends up with the goods.

Worth buying

What Galaxus is actually good for.

Where the Swiss price, the range or the stock position genuinely beats what you can get at home.

  • Swiss and German appliance brandsJura, Sigg, Koenig, Miele. Deep stock, and the Swiss retail price plus our fee usually lands below grey-market pricing abroad.
  • Anything with a published returns rateSince 2023 Galaxus shows the return and warranty rate on every product. We read it before buying for you — it is the most honest quality signal in Swiss retail.
  • Long-tail specialist stockObscure cables, replacement parts, discontinued models. The catalogue runs to millions of items and the search is good.
  • Outdoor and alpine equipmentMammut, Ortovox, Scarpa, in Swiss sizing and Swiss seasonal range rather than the reduced export assortment.
  • Bundles across categoriesOne checkout covering electronics, a coffee machine and chocolate is one inbound parcel to us, not three.

Not worth buying

What not to buy here.

We will tell you when an order does not make sense. Talking you out of a bad purchase costs us one fee and earns the next ten.

  • Apple hardwarePriced within a few percent worldwide and covered by an international warranty. Freight and duty will make it worse, not better.
  • Anything heavy and cheapA CHF 40 monitor stand weighing 6 kg costs more to fly than to buy. We will say so rather than quote it.
  • Mass-market consumer electronicsSony, Samsung, LG — usually cheaper in your own market once duty is applied. The exception is a model never released there.
  • Chilled and fresh groceriesGalaxus sells them. They will not survive an export lane. Shelf-stable only.
  • Marketplace-partner listingsSome items ship from third-party merchants rather than the Galaxus warehouse, which breaks consolidation timing. We flag these at quote.

Practical notes

What our buyers know
about Galaxus.

Accumulated from running orders through this retailer. Most of it is the kind of thing you only learn by getting it wrong once.

Lead time to our warehouse1–3 working days for own-warehouse stock. Marketplace-partner items run 3–10 and we quote them separately.
Inbound freight costFree above CHF 50, otherwise CHF 4.90. Almost always absorbed rather than passed on.
Price behaviourPrices move daily and Galaxus publishes the history. If the price drops between quote and purchase, you keep the difference.
Stock accuracyAmong the most reliable in Swiss retail. Displayed availability is generally real, which is why we quote Galaxus faster than most.
ConsolidationMultiple Galaxus orders in one week merge into a single outbound parcel for CHF 15.

Questions

Buying from Galaxus, answered.

Why not just order from galaxus.de instead?

Because it is a different shop. The German operation has its own catalogue, its own EUR pricing and its own stock, and it does not carry the full Swiss assortment. If you want a product that exists in the Swiss range, or the Swiss price, it has to be bought on galaxus.ch — which delivers only to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Is the Swiss price actually better?

Often, once the 8.1% VAT refund is applied on export — that refund alone covers most of our fee. It is genuinely better on Swiss and German brands, and genuinely worse on global consumer electronics. Our quote shows the comparison so you can decide rather than guess.

What is the returns rate you keep mentioning?

Galaxus publishes, on each product page, the share of units returned and the share that failed under warranty. Almost no retailer anywhere does this. We read it before buying on your behalf and will warn you when a product has a poor record, even if you have already asked for it.

Can you buy something that is out of stock?

Yes. We place the order and hold it, and you are only charged when it is confirmed and dispatched. For high-demand launches the priority purchase option at CHF 35 puts a buyer on it at the release minute.

Do I get the manufacturer warranty?

Yes. The purchase is a normal Swiss retail transaction with the receipt attached to your order. International warranties apply as normal; Swiss-only warranties need a Swiss return address, which we provide.
